Remodeled a Small Bathroom On a $1,000 Budget

Completely remodeled our small half bathroom on a $1,000 budget. A little back story. When we first moved into our home I knew that I wanted to remodel the master bathroom. Which in fact was not much of a master bathroom, it doesn’t even have a shower. It is basically a powder room in our bedroom. It was so outdated and was slowly starting to fall apart. We had no budget to remodel it. The floor was vinyl and was so old that it would chip off when you would walk on it. Eventually our bathroom had no floor! Finally after a few years without floor and a leaking toilet we decided to invest and start tackling that bathroom.

Deciding on a Budget

We didn’t have much of a budget so I decided that I was going to learn to install the floor and my husband could install the vanity. I knew the floor wasn’t going to be to pricey because the bathroom is so tiny. So to save on labor cost I decided to learn so we can do it ourselves. I did some research and decided on Laminate flooring. Every post I read and the youtube videos I saw said this was the easiest floor to do yourself and was durable. So I thought for sure it was going to be the easiest thing to instal. Man I was so WRONG!!

First I gathered inspiration from Pinterest

There was so many cute options and different style but I wanted something that would make the bathroom feel bigger and brighter. I ultimately decided on black and with a dash of boho.

Prep Time:

It was time to gut the bathroom but there was really not much to take out. The floors where already gone and the vanity was falling apart. So the that step was pretty easy. The next step was to paint the whole bathroom. Surprisingly that took so many coats of paint. Once the paint dried and cleaning was done it was time to install the floors.

Floors:

We choose an affordable laminate flooring with underlainment already attached to save us time and money. We gathered all the material and I was ready to tackle the bathroom. This was the most difficult part and the most time consuming. I thought it was going to be a breeze but with lots of sweat and tears and many hours on youtube we finally completed the floors! It was very difficult at first because I did not know what I was doing but with some trial and error we where able to complete it. The floors where a big accomplishment.

Vanity:

This part I did not take a part of but my husband said it was easy to instal. We also went with a very affordable option. I was also in the search for a very affordable matte black faucet and the most affordable one I found was one on Amazon. I could not believe the quality of the faucet when it arrived.

Overall, it was difficult project to remodel a small bathroom on a budget but it was totally worth it. I am not a handy person whatsoever so if I was able to do it SO CAN YOU! I still can not believe we remodeled our small bathroom!

Everything I was not able to link was because it was purchased at marshal’s (my favorite store). There is always very similar greenery available at marshal’s. Maybe not the exact thing but something just as cute. Also, the little containers where purchased at ikea. A shelf is an easy way to add storage and decor to a small bathroom.
