If you would like to know how to make your own Floating wood shelf this post is for you. It is fast, simple and the easiest floating DIY shelf you would do. Very inexpensive to create compared to other options online. You don’t need to be handy to create this!
This is the easiest and fast Diy I have EVER done! so I was cleaning out my garage and stumbled across some wood. I was going to though them away but decided to make it into a shelf.
I had been looking for a shelf online but did not have much of a budget for one. so when I found the pieces of wood I was so excited!
This project was so basic. All I did was cut the food to prefer length, sand it, stain it and BOOM all done! Everything I used to create this shelf was things I had on hand except the brackets. I actually purchased the brackets on Amazon on one of their deals of the day. So it was super inexpensive.
Step 1: Picking out your wood and length
First you will need a shelf whatever length that works for you and your decor.
Step 2: Sanding
For this step you will need to prep your wood for staining. which would be sanding down your wood. After you sand the wood you would need to take a microfiber cloth to get rid of the dust.
Supplies: Microfiber cloth and the sander I used was the craftsmen 120 clot sheet sander
Step 3: Stain
To stain your wood you would want to follow the directions on the back of the stain you decide to go with. The stain I used was early American by Minwax. I loved the natural wood tone to it and it worked perfect for our home. I used a paintbrush and followed the natural direction of the wood grain when applying the stain. You can also use a cloth to apply the stain. After applying the stain you will let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes and you will wipe off the excess stain. Let it dry for 1 hour.
Supplies: minwax stain, Brush
Step 4: : Assemble and style
I already had brackets on hand but I will link some cute options. Now the fun part!Well at least for me the best part is when it is finally done and you get to put it up and make it cute. You get to now add all the fun and cute decor and style it just the way you want. Now you know how to make your own floating wood shelf!
